Instructions: A person who is scientifically literate understands the principles of science and appreciates how important evidence can be when it comes to understanding the world and your place in it. A scientifically literate person with media literacy skills can figure out when to trust and when to be wary of something you saw online (even if it requires proactive fact checking). Such a person can navigate their adult life in a common sense way, accurately understanding the consequences of a personal decision (for example, whether it makes sense to vaccinate your children).
Ecological literacy (also known as environmental literacy) is similar to scientific literacy, but of course it pertains more specifically to environmental issues. It is my hope that by the end of this course, each of you is well on their way to ecological (or environmental) literacy. What does this mean in the context of your life? How will ecological literacy help to shape your future decisions? Be as specific and thoughtful as possible. You should be able to write an adequate but concise response in about two paragraphs.
