Search the academic literature and find a “meta-analysis” on a topic of interest to you in the field of communication. THE TOPIC IS “PRIVACY IN SOCIAL NETWORKING”. Once you have located an appropriate meta-analysis, you are to do the following:

Identify two studies utilized in that meta-analysis which report “different” results on the relationship in question. Keep in mind that while the variables involved might have slightly different or similar names, it’s important they are focused on studying the same relationship. Once you have located the two studies, you can set aside the meta-analysis.

Acquire a full-text version of the two studies you have selected. Your goal is to procure full-text copies of the two articles you will use for your final paper. (Please use articles that can be opened easily)

Familiarize yourself with the IVs, DVs, RQs and/or hypotheses, methodology, and results obtained in each of the studies.

The paper you write will be approximately 5 pages in length and will include a reference list in APA style; that reference list will only include 3 items: the meta-analysis which you found and the two articles that you ultimately chose to use. INCLUDE HYPERLINKS TO THE FULL TEXT VERSION OF EACH REFERENCE!

The paper itself will contain the following sections: (NUMBER THE SECTIONS)

Section 1 — A clear statement of the research question/relationship which you’ve chosen for this final assignment. There is no need for introductory remarks, justifications, or explanations here; simply present the research question. (Hint: the meta-analysis should have clearly stated that question!!)

Section 2 – A one-page, single-spaced summary of each study you have selected (Yes, that’s 2 pages of your paper!). Each summary should present the study’s purpose, research question/hypotheses, methodology used, and results obtained. (Note: do NOT evaluate/assess the reliability/validity, internal/external validity, or professional implications of each study in these summaries.)

Section 3 – An essay (1-2 pages in length, double-spaced, Times/Roman 12-point font) in which you:

Assess the strengths and weaknesses of each article;

Answer the research question posed in Section 1; and

Defend your answer with no fewer than three specific reasons.

In this section, you are accepting one of the answers provided in your chosen studies and rejecting the other. BE BOTH CLEAR AND CONCISE ABOUT WHY YOU MADE THIS DECISION. One or more of your reasons could pertain to the reliability, validity, internal/external validity of the study which agrees with your position. Similarly, you should provide at least one reason why you rejected the results/conclusions of the other study.

Note: there is no expectation you will provide an introduction or conclusion for this paper. What is critical here is identifying the research question, summarizing each of the studies you have found which purports to answer that question, evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of each study, and, in the end, clearly stating and defending your answer to the question posed.
