Write My Essay For MeThere are 5 individual assignment in total.
Length: 400 word minimum (excluding any quotations).
Instructions: Draw from all of the assigned content (including videos) and cite your sources clearly.
Respond to this question:
Connecting the dots: Contrast the ideas and inventions of Hermann von Helmholtz, Elisha Gray, Alexander Graham, and Thomas Edison (or others). How did each contribute to the evolution of electronic music in their respective milieus? What are the most salient contributions (e.g. Telegraph, Synthesizer, Phonograph, etc.) of their work and what speculations can you make about the musical use of these technologies during the early 20th century? How did the musical inventions of this period (1850s-1940) impact how we listen to, perform, and compose music? Draw on assigned course content and videos/readings/listening. Provide specific examples to support your position.
Length: 400 word minimum (excluding any direct quotations).
Instructions: Draw from all of the assigned content (including lecture videos) and cite any necessary sources clearly in APA or MLA.
Respond to this question:
1. Based on what you’ve learned from your reading/listening, how did different electronic composers negotiate their artistic expressivity during this period (1940s-1970s)? For instance, how were Stockhausen’s Four Criteria of Electronic Music reflected in the work of Pierre Schaeffer and Milton Babbitt or any other composer from this period. How did Schaeffer engage with musical objects? What were Milton Babbitts interests in the RCA synthesizer?
Length: 400 word minimum (excluding any direct quotations).
Instructions: Draw from all of the assigned content (including lecture recordings) and cite any necessary sources clearly.
Respond to this question:
1. Analysis and Argumentative Summary: Based on what you’ve learned from your reading/listening, summarize the primary musical characteristics, culture(s), and electronic instruments that define the Krautrock and Disco genres (e.g. sampling, racial and cultural minority experience/influence, use of synthesizers, and specific audio effects). An objective relationship between Krautrock to Disco is rather complex and controversial. Formulate your own argument about a transition between and/or fusion of these two musical styles by cross-referencing events and the use of electronic technology. What factors (e.g. culture, identity, technology) started a shift in artistic practice and when/why did these new genres take shape in your opinion? Furthermore, did either of these genres cross-pollinate with Funk, Soul, Dub and/or Pop Rock? Cite sources in-text — APA or MLA when possible.
Lecture/Reading/Listening Write-up
Length: 350 words (excluding any direct quotations).
Instructions: Draw from all of the assigned content (including lecture videos) and cite any necessary sources clearly.
Respond to this question:
1. Perspective and Argument: Read D’Errico & Collin’s articles on Electronica & EDM (https://www.oxfordhandbooks.com/view/10.1093/oxfordhb/9780199935321.001.0001/oxfordhb-9780199935321-e-74). What do they and Reynolds infer about the development of EDM music at the turn of the 21st century? Speak about how these authors navigate and label the “complex web of relationships” and “fractured and fast breeding offshoots” of EDM culture, technology, texture/rhythm vs. melody/harmony schema, collectivity, facelessness, and site specific events. What can you conclude about the explosion of different styles and genres of electronic music between 1990 and 2010? In other words, is there a clear continuum of 20th century electronic styles/ideals or does electronic music seem to become ever-increasingly diffused, breaking away from earlier practices at an increasing rate? Defend your position with evidence. Use musical terms you’ve uncovered in your readings and anything we’ve discussed during lecture.
Length: 350-400 words (excluding any quotations).
Instructions: Draw from all of the assigned content (including videos) and cite your sources clearly.
A Final Thought: To what extent does the Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique’s (IRCAM) large network of participants (audio engineers, conductors, composers, data collectors, performers, phycologists, scientists, etc.) develop technological tools through analysis of instrumental recordings and sound while being transformed in the process of conjuring up, rehearsing, recording, and analyzing the musical characteristics they seek to categorize? This approach seems to construct an enduring authority based upon a universal philosophy of technology. Georgina Born has argued— although this goal may be initially attractive— the tendency to stabilize musical characteristics via technological means ultimately achieves “mobile stasis” or an “anti-inventive” state (Born 2010, 326).
Fortunately, technological tools developed within musical practices are not inherently “anti-inventive,” assuming the tools are utilized to provide an actant with its own sounds or “voice.” It’s interesting to note that George Lewis approached his Voyager in this way, creating “a kind of technology-mediated animism.” The software’s “own sound becomes a carrier for history and cultural identity… ‘sound’ becomes identifiable with the expression of personality” (Lewis 2000, 6). This embodiment of “history, memory and identity” simulates exactly what occurs when two master improvisers perform on a stage or perhaps a performer and composer meet for the first time and examine the possibilities of a musical instrument.
Take a listen to some of the works created by composers who participated in IRCAM (in this week’s listening). What are your thoughts about the usefulness of this research of sound, especially in the fields of the avant garde and electro acoustical art music? In other words, has the research enhanced certain aesthetics? How? At the very least, are there aspects of this music you find intriguing, interesting, or baffling? Describe your listening experience and cite any sources that help you communicate your perspectives.
