For the portfolio, you are going to include a reflective analysis (not summary) on your learning in ENG 1010 and how this is shown and demonstrated through the specific items in the portfolio. In addition, your reflection should also address the following items in multiple paragraphs, organized and developed with supporting details and discussion of how the rest of the submitted items illustrate your learning. Your entire portfolio is a rhetorical act of persuasion that is intended to construct and illustrate your learning and growth. Now—at the end of the term—you should be able to organize, revise and edit and compose this document independently based on these instructions.

The following questions can help you begin thinking about what you might include. Don’t just answer the questions; structure your response in a cohesive essay.

Review your Midterm Essay. Did you meet the goals you set for yourself? Did you exceed them? Review what you wrote then and consider your growth between then and now.
Has your writing process changed since the beginning of the semester? What do you do differently in the process of preparing essays and writing in college versus high school? How has this impacted your overall writing quality? If it hasn’t changed, explain why.
Discuss an example of a revision you made for each writing project (that is, a change you made after you got feedback from the instructor or a tutor). Why did you make these revisions? How specifically do you think they improved your essays—and more importantly, how do they show you’ve grown as a college writer and thinker?
Review the ENG 1010 course outcomes in the syllabus. Include a discussion of where your portfolio and the writing you are submitting shows your learning in these areas.
What skills did you learn in this course that you think will help you with your future academic and professional goals?
If you could go back to the first week of the course, what would you do differently as a student and how would that change your learning and progress? What will you do at the start of ENG 1020 based on your learning this semester as a college student?
