Case Information for Final Paper Due March 20,2021

Alexis is a recent graduate of Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Social work degree. Alexis’s ethnic background is Mexican-American and she speaks fluent Spanish and has a good command of the English language. Alexis is a very outgoing person, friendly and very comfortable working with diverse populations.
Alexis has been hired as a case manager and has been on the job for 8 months. She participates in agency related activities, has recently begun volunteering in the community outreach efforts to promote the agency. She has aspirations to pursue a degree in law in the next five years after she has gained more experience and paid down some of her student loans.
Recently, Alexis came into the staff room and as she opened the door, she overheard several of her coworkers making derogatory statement about Mexicans. When she walked into the room, the coworkers stopped talking, yet it was very clear that she had overheard their conversation.
Alexis felt hurt and she removed her lunch from the refrigerator and went to her office to eat her lunch. Alexis is very proud of her heritage and she knows that she needs to address the actions of her coworkers. Alexis shared this incident with her Mexican grandmother that night during dinner and she made a decision to bring up her concerns at the next team meeting of her fellow case managers.
