Group Decision Making Project – INSTRUCTIONS:
After watching the 1957 version of “12 Angry Men” the
assignment requires you to write a 1 ½ to 2 page essay explaining how the movie depicts each
of the six stages of the Group Decision Making Process. The stages are explained in the
assignment.
Some of you may have seen the movie in a Civics or Government course. It is considered a
classic and is included on every list I have ever seen of the movies everyone should see during
their lifetime. Please do not be put off by the fact that it is a black and white film. It is about a
young man who has been accused of killing his own father, and most of the movie takes place
in the jury room. Nonetheless, it is important to remember that everyone involved in the trial,
including the judge, attorneys, witnesses, and jurors, are all part of the group involved in this
decision making effort. Be sure to keep this in mind as you watch for indications of each of the
individual stages.
