What is the argument? What do I want to prove in the body paragraphs?
The thesis is the annunciation
Present the argument, make it a very strong argument that can be explained and broken down into three pieces.
Don’t give background in the intro paragraph, since the audience already is an expert on the information.
Thesis statement should be a good length
Nothing general at all
No filler sentences, get straight to the point of the argument
State the argument up front
Stick to the fact
TAKE INTO FACTOR THAT

Descriptive vs. perspective

Herodotus’ purpose of history is to describe past events so that they don’t die in the oblivion of the past. He gives the past immortality, keeps the past events alive.
Thucydidies is writing a prescription of the past, so that people don’t make the same pasts. Reading about the past gives rules you can apply in the present.
Example: World War II, explanation of what happened and why, which leads to an account of what occured. Like a prescription from the doctor, it’s about the purpose and how to prevent it in the future. Giving tips about how to not mess up again.
*Spend all these paragraphs supporting the argument
