INTRODUCTION & INSTRUCTIONS:
Extending this module’s content regarding motivation, this activity will invite you to read one theoretical article published in the journal Contemporary Educational Psychology. Both of these articles provide detailed perspectives on how theorists view motivation.
The first article is written by two well-known experts in the field of motivation, Richard M. Ryan and Edward L. Deci. Both of these authors are known for their work in self-determination theory (SDT), as referenced in your module readings of Chapter 15 of our textbook.
The second article discusses motivation from the perspective of Bandura’s social cognitive theory, a topic we covered earlier in this course – specifically when reading Chapter 5 of our textbook.
For this activity, choose one of these articles to read, reflect, and share your connections.
