Write My Essay For MePart 1 of this project had you identify and analyze the many facets defining your conflict. (uploaded in files)
Part 2 has you evaluate some of the major factors in preparing an appropriate negotiation strategy. Use the guidelines below to structure your paper.
Again each installment (this is #2) should be roughly 5 pages (+/- 1), single-spaced, well proofread, well formatted, and Times Roman 12 point font. As for formatting, focus on concise focused paragraphs, good use of headings and white space, and double spacing between sections. You might think in terms of each section below being ½ to one page long (give or take).
Section 1 – Problem Restatement
How would you now state your conflict as a problem to be solved? Be sure to use a “side-by-side” perspective in terms of what is “on the table.” Think in terms of “taking a step back and then taking a second look” as discussed in class.
What are the general factors involved as you “take a drive?”
What is your “Road to Omaha” – OUR objective, what criteria will be used to assess how well mutual interests were met?
Section 2 – Framing Effects
What “frames” have distorted your perception of the conflict? There are likely more than one (e.g., selection, projection). Be specific in naming 2 items and providing the examples for each.
What “frames” have distorted your understanding of the outcomes (e.g., prospect, escalation, others). Pick between the Prospect Curve and Escalation of commitment, and an “other” effect. If you want to tackle both of the majors you do not need a minor. Provide a well-developed story about each effect.
Section 3 – Dirty Tricks
What Dirty Tricks (book or article) have you employed in your negotiation so far (select a minimum of two)? Why (e.g., motive for the category)? How has the decision to use Dirty Tricks been influenced by your Mach V score (state your score)?
What Dirty Tricks (book or article) have the other party or parties employed in the negotiation so far (pick two)? Why (e.g., motive)?
Any ultimatums? Were they legitimate or bluffs? If no ultimatums, how was it avoided?
Has anyone been “called out?” If so did it met the criteria? If not, how will you “call them out?” If no “call out” necessary, why?
Section 4 – Managing the Process
What is the agenda to negotiate and how will you avoid “piling on?”
What are the “rules of engagement?” At this time who will be involved, where will it take place, how long are meetings, cues to take a break. What is your “conch” shell? This is not an exhaustive list of factors to consider
How will you confirm “want to?” What might strain commitment of one or more parties and how will you maintain/regain it?
Section 5 – Generate Options
What are the current options that are on the table, or could be put on the table? (logrolling, bridging, cost-cutting, compensation, Chapter 8 has others). Describe the details of the options.
