Learning Goal: I’m working on a public health discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

Scenario:

Amy and Eric are a young couple who are easing into a comfortable lifestyle. They have good paying jobs, drive nice cars, are buying a home in a good neighborhood, and have two healthy preschool children, ages 2 and 3 1/2 years old. When Amy picked her children up from their licensed day care center earlier in the day, she learned from the head teacher that another parent had reported that his child was diagnosed with Hepatitis. This news frightened Amy and made her begin to question the quality of the day care center. Amy told Eric of this situation when he got home from work. As the couple discussed whether or not they should take their children to day care as usual the following day, they discovered that they have many unanswered questions.

Write a 1-2 page paper. Use credible web sources for your research that are current as of 2010 to the present, preferably 3 or more. Discuss the following statements/questions:

1. Discuss the type of Hepatitis most likely involved in this scenario. How serious is it?

2. Discuss KEY preventive measures that would be important in this scenario.

3. What action would lessen the serious risk for Amy and Eric’s children?

4. What agencies (local, state or national) would have a role in this situation?

5. Based on the information you found on the Web, if you were Amy or Eric would you take your children back to the day care center the next day? What issues specifically impact your decision?
