Abstract

This paper discusses and analyzes the biblical verses Romans 12:2 and Colossians 2:4-9 as it relates to religion and science, faith and belief. Both verses are clearly explained in this paper based on their relationship with the finding of the truth and proving God.

Romans 12:2 specifically points both the Christian faith and science to bright forth a fundamental alteration in the way in which the world is inhabited and understood. It says not to follow into the world but rather to convert it by the reintroducing of the minds. It simply means that although Christians live in faith, it is not based on irrationality nor blindness but rather on thoughts that are carefully crafted and firmly based on reason and studies conducted. It is the very same thing that goes for science (McGrath, 2009). Their beliefs are thought through and based on information that is accurate. Both the Christian faith and science have their own respected basis and reasoning that are the main drive and motivation for their undertakings.

Colossians 2:4-9

The knowledge of God in both the Christian faith and science is based on the quest of finding the absolute truth. For Christians, they study the Bible and the law of God to know more about God. They study the history and the biblical discoveries aided by science in order to not be persuaded by what the world believes. On the other hand, science uses fact finding and different methodology to likewise know more of God; prove or disprove His existence or to authenticate various Christian claims or invalidate it. The more information they get, the more they are getting to know God. As a matter of fact, the quality of the Christian faith and science all depends on the information they get. Material pieces of evidence and hard data based on solid facts and credentials strengthen the faith and belief more than inaccurate information. There should always be the need to find superior power and truth in order to keep the faith and belief strong. Without which, it will dwindle and die in the long run.
